description | A RARE LONGQUAN CELADON PEAR-SHAPED VASE YUAN DYNASTY (1279-1368) The flattened, pear-shaped body is molded on each side with a ruyi-head medallion, one enclosing a stylized fu character and the other enclosing a stylized shou character, each flanked by flowering plants. The neck is flanked by a pair of elephant-headed loop handles suspending stationary rings below the oval mouth molded around the sides with lotus petals. The vase is covered in a glaze of soft sea-green color which also covers the interior of the foot. |
