The floral designs are densely painted over the ewer, but the major subject matter is still easily identified. With rich and bright cobalt blue color, the ewer is regarded as a rare blue-and-white masterpiece dating to the Yuan dynasty.
The ewer was a popular form of porcelain wares in the Yuan dynasty. It imitated the Arabic bronze ware while inheriting the Mongolian unrestraint and bold bronze vessel styles.
