The source of the name “KOJO FUU NI HABAMARU” refers to the phase from a classical Chinese poem. The piece is made by using a hand-forming technique and sculptural process of trimming, which is the traditional style of Raku ware. This is a thin, shoe-shaped tea bowl. The area of a belt-shaped line is spotty coated with a cobalt glaze make out to be a river. The area from the mouth to the trimmed foot flashing on a light cobalt and a black glaze looks like raining cats and dogs. The notched lip is obliquely trimmed with a fine spatula. This work is one of the “Day Voyage” series.
