"The simple shape and decoration of this wine-serving bottle is in line with the spirit of Chinese porcelain of the Kangxi period (1662-1722), within the Qing Dynasty, which implies a conception based on the balance of empty and decorated spaces. To make this possible, sequences of geometric elements are used that tend towards symmetry, among which large, white areas are interleaved. These undecorated dinner services, or with a minimalist-style decoration, are not limited to China, but they are seen recurrently in many European productions. Hiding in the background, there seems to be a latent desire to imitate the effects of white oriental porcelain. The decoration of the bottle can be related to the so-called Bérain technique, arranged in a circular manner in three parts of the piece. Bérain had been Louis XV’s decorator and had created several ornamental models."
