Fu and Gui were the most important ritual vessels used in ritual ceremonies that were held during the period of the Joseon Dynasty. Fu was made in a square shape, reflecting the traditional concept of the universe in which land was square. Gui was made in a round shape, reflecting the concept of the universe in which sky was round. Fu was used as a container for rice and millet, among various grains, while Gui was used as a container for millet and non-glutinous millet. These works reflect the uses of ceramic ritual vessels in the ritual ceremonies of the Joseon Dynasty during the early 15th century.
