On this ceramic bowl a mythological scene is painted. Ai Apaec (so named by Rafael Larco, meaning "the maker” in Muchik language), the Moche mythological personage characterized by a belt and ear ornaments with snake heads, fangs in his face, and a headdress that varies according to the context in which he is located as part of his quest, is represented. In this case he is wearing the headdress that has feathers and a feline head. He holds a knife in one hand, and his other hand points to another mythological character that is represented in a frontal view. This personage has eight tentacles with serrated bodies and snake heads, and also carries a knife in one hand. The headdress of this divinity is formed by two stepped triangles. The scene seems to be referring to the skies, as it is full of astrological symbols and circles that probably allude to the rain. (UH)

(UH)
