This piece is a example where you can see the beginning of the ancient Iberian stage. It is a form that resembles the Phoenicians pithoi from Lower Andalusia of S. VI BC. but the arrangement of the handles below the neck and typical gouaches of the Iberian decorations indicate an imitation of the Phoenician forms but within the Iberian culture. It is observed therefore a transformation of the cultural features of the colonial-trading societies to a particular interpretation of the indigenous world that will give the direct result of the formation of the Iberian society. The chronology given to the piece would be related to the second phase of construction of the sanctuary, within a character of the Iberian ideology. The location of the amphora embedded in the floor of an outside patio and existence of quality materials in it suggests that it is the container of offerings, a sacred well of the sanctuary.
