The source of the name “ENRYU” refers to the phase from a classical Chinese poem. In the area from the notched lip to the front, gold dust is sprinkled over. The complex scenery of the thoroughly fused gentle red glaze, including a tinge of pink, scarlet, dark gray, creates the checkered scenery. Another feature of this tea bowl is that a number of fine cracks are created in the process of firing glaze all over the surface of the bowl, which creates an impressive scenery. Inside the trimmed foot of the piece, the ‘RAKU’ mark of Kichizaemon XV is impressed.
