This is a sculptural ceramic bowl that represents a head offering. The eyes are closed, and above the head a sling is portrayed. The sling is a combat weapon, used to throw stones in a confrontation. This bowl could then represent a severed or trophy head. This vessel refers to a frequent topic in Nazca art: the mythological battle between the gods and ancestors or community leaders. In Nazca iconography it is the heads of mythological beings or ancestors from which life sprouts again. The trophy heads motif may be replaced by a homologous motif: the germinating seeds or beans. Este es un vaso escultórico de cerámica que representa una cabeza ofrenda. El rostro tiene los ojos cerrados, y sobre la cabeza hay un dibujo de una honda. La honda es un arma de combate, usada para lanzar piedras en una contienda. Este cuenco podría entonces representar una cabeza cercenada, o cabeza trofeo. Este vaso hace alusión a un tema muy presente en la cerámica Nazca, el de los combates mitológicos entre divinidades y los jefes comunitarios o ancestros. En la iconografía Nazca, se puede ver que es de las cabezas de seres mitológicos o ancestros de donde vuelve a brotar nuevamente la vida. El motivo de las cabezas trofeo puede ser reemplazado por un motivo homólogo: las semillas o frijoles en germinación. (UH)
