Oribe-type is usually molded into unusually, asymmetrical shapes: however, this is a rare Oribe type bowl as its characteristic is moderate and straight-forward in molding. Black under glaze is poured from the mouth rim diagonally in a symmetric pattern and the early bracken (Sawarabi) and vine are non-restrictively depicted on the front and the back areas where there are white triangle shapes. Sawarabi is the bracken that has just sprouted in early spring. As read in the famous Manyoshu listed below, it can said to be a suitable subject matter to express a vivacious spring emotion.
”Near the waterfall that flows fervently over the rocksEarly bracken sproutingIt may be approaching spring”
