This is a large and magnificent tea caddy. It reveals the base surface at the bottom which was cut with thread to separate it from the potter’s wheel. This tea caddy had been handed down as a Kinkazande which is a type of Seto ware. The "Cha-ki Bengyokushu (Discriminating Jade from stone in tea ceramics)" says that Kinkazande is named after the ground color of Oshu Gold Mine. The features are the hard and light colored clay, fascinating cutting mark by thread, and the lip turned nicely inward. This tea caddy also has the similar features of Kinkazande. However it is pointed out that this work was made by turning the wheel counterclockwise, which is different from the ordinary Seto wares which are made by turning the wheel clockwise.
