This tea caddy of Ruiza in bossed decoration bears an inscription "Ninsei" on its bottom, which proposes that the masterwork has been made by Nonomura Ninsei, the potter of Kyoto-style ceramics in the early Edo period. The crosshatch pattern is carved around the unglazed body. The innermost portion of the caddy is coated with glaze. There is a mark on the bottom rim made by the thread that cut it from potter’s wheel.
