Kamachi ware was a ceramic of the Yanagawa clan. This brazier is a valuable example of Kamachi ware with an inscription "Kyushu earthenware master" which was marked on the highest rank ware in Kyushu region. Only three wares which have the inscription remains, and this brazier is one of them. The brazier shows the elegant appearance with bright patchy patterns on the delicate and shiny skin which is created by polishing after rubbing charcoal powder into the unglazed earthen ware . It also has a gourd-shaped inscription of the potter’s name "Houetsu".
