Megalithic graves were used to bury the dead over many generations in the same burial chambers. Also in Nenndorf, finds point to several burials: A jug, two flint axes, and three arrowheads were in a separated area of the chamber, the bowls and the stone axe were part of another burial. Older burials were often simply moved aside. In Nenndorf, remains of two funnel beakers in the entrance area indicate such a procedure. The characteristic funnel-shaped neck of these typical Neolithic vessels not only lent its name to the funnel beaker itself, but also to a whole Neolithic culture.
