Tile with glazed white background upon which a masculine personage is painted sitting in a green area and turned to his right with his legs half-extended. In his right hand he is holding a fishing pole upon which he is gazing. He is dressed in black shoes with white stockings, yellow trousers that extend to his knees, a yellow shirt, blue sash and is wearing a hat.
From the 18th through the 19th centuries there was an important revival and rise in ceramic works and tile making. The latter was represented by a great variety of themes from art to trades, characterization of personages, and representation of food and objects. This rise, extension and popularization of themes resulted in greater accessibility of painted tiles within Spanish society. The tiles were used to decorate various areas of the house.
