KANGXI MARK BUT 19TH CENTURY the ovoid body supported on a spreading foot and rising to a tall cylindrical neck with a flared rim, the neck set with a pair of dragon handles, decorated in the typical aubergine, green and yellow palette with panels enclosing birds and flowers, the base with an apocryphal Kangxi reign mark (2) 55cm high Collection of the Scottish architect Alexander Hunter Crawford (1865-1945), who designed among others the Freemason’s Hall in Edinburgh. He possibly acquired the vases from Spink & Son in the 1930s, thence by descent. |
