有人认为图中人物为林和靖，他以爱梅花仙鹤出名；也有人认为构图布景与铁面御史赵手卞“一琴一鹤，匹马入蜀”的故事相符；还有学者认为图中人物是八仙中的曹国舅或蓝采和。这类图案中一般人物穿着打扮的辨识度不高，也没有文字标志。
元青花上的人物图案与以往的瓷器相比，在表现手法和构图上有明显的创新。它是将绘画艺术移植到瓷器装饰的开端。这种装饰手法在宋金以前很少见，对明清以后瓷器的纹饰风格产生了极大的影响。
（二）元青花辅助纹饰
元青花辅助纹饰主要有：变形莲瓣纹、栀子花纹、灵芝纹、海水纹、回纹、卷草纹、菱形纹、蕉叶纹、如意云肩纹、钱纹、杂宝纹、八吉祥纹等。
1.变形莲瓣纹
变形莲瓣纹俗称“八大码”，常绘于碗、盘、瓶、罐外壁或瓶、罐的肩部、胫部等。在每个花瓣内常常会加绘多种花纹，包括朵花、朵云、火焰、杂宝等等。莲瓣纹用一道粗线和一道细线平行勾勒出轮廓线，每片花瓣间不相连，留有一定空隙（见图3—2—83——图3—2—85）。
2.栀子花纹
栀子花纹常常出现在碗、盘的口沿，碗的外壁或作为瓶、罐上纹饰问的间隔带出现。六片花瓣均匀分布，有时花蕊与花瓣问留有少许空隙（见图3—2—86—图3—2—88）。
6.卷草纹
卷草纹多绘于器物的口沿、胫部或圈足上，或作为纹饰问的隔离带出现。卷草纹是独立绘制的“S”形波浪线条，一正一反相接。也有的二上一下或一上二下相接，笔画随意流畅。
5.回纹
回纹最早出现在商周的青铜器上。线条呈方形卷折，形似“回”字。纹路一般从左上方起逆时针走笔，从外到内一般为套叠两框，也见单框。
