The round body of this Buncheong bottle was pressed to achieve the slightly flattened shape, which has a low center of gravity that creates a very stable appearance. A very thin layer of white slip has been applied, with distinct contrasts in the shades of white. The surface is covered with a thin layer of glaze with a subtle luster, and fine crackles are visible in places. The shoulder is embellished with a band of chrysanthemum designs. The body is divided into four decorative areas on each side and the front and back. The center of the body is decorated with a large Taegeuk motif produced by incision and sgraffito techniques, which is in turn surrounded by peony patterns. As this piece is similar in style and form to the Buncheong Flat Bottle with Sgraffito Lotus and Fish Design (National Treasure No. 179), both are presumed to be products of the same kiln.
