Kochi ware is a soft ceramic ware from southern China in Yuan-Ming Dynasties. An incense case of Kochi ware is especially prized in a tea ceremony. This incense case is also recorded as a valuable work in "The Record of Utensil" of Tachibana family, and it has been handed down with good care. It is covered with green glaze over the soft surface and applied vermilion ink on the forehead of the crane. The base surface of the body appears from the places where the glaze on concave parts split open and that creates a sense of elegance.
