Moche art shows various types of sacrifice offered to the main gods. Some were held in the mountains, where the warriors were thrown off a precipice. This sculptural ceramic bottle represents the god of the mountain sitting in the bottom of the hills. The smaller characters probably represent the ancestors of the Moche lineages, since they have the same mouth with feline fangs that characterizes Ai Apaec, the Moche civilizing hero. Some of these characters are sliding between the hills, perhaps alluding to the river water flowing through the gorges. One of them seems to be hurled from the highest peak, and another lies at the foot of the mountain. (UH)

El arte Mochica nos muestra diversos tipos de sacrificio ofrecidos a las divinidades máximas. Algunos se realizaban en las monta?as, desde donde los guerreros vencidos eran despe?ados. En esta botella escultórica de cerámica se observa al dios de la monta?a sentado en la parte baja de los cerros. Los personajes de menor tama?o representan probablemente a los ancestros de los linajes Mochica, ya que presentan la misma boca con colmillos de felino que caracteriza al héroe civilizador Ai Apaec. Algunos de estos personajes ellos se encuentran entre los picos de los cerros, quizás haciendo alusión al agua de los ríos que fluye por las quebradas. Uno de ellos parece ser lanzado desde el pico más alto, y otro yace al pie de la monta?a. (UH)
