This is a sculptural ceramic jar that represents the head of a captive personage. This human head is adorned by circular pendant earrings, one on top of the earlobe and the other at the bottom. The jar is red, while the ear ornaments and the sclera of the eye are cream. The character has a fringe of hair on the forehead. This way of representing the hair is similar to that of the warriors who have been defeated in ritual combat and will be ready for sacrifice. The hair, in such cases, has been cut. This feature allows us to say that this jar represents the head of a warrior defeated in ceremonial combat, whose hair was cut, was undressed and then sacrificed to propitiate the deities of the Moche pantheon.
