The link between life and death, and the place of ancestors as the main intermediaries between the two worlds is undoubtedly one of the most recurrent themes in Nasca iconography. The modeled head of a human being appears in this fragment of a ceremonial drum, possibly an ancestor judging by the accessories he is wearing: a mouth mask with feline whiskers and a headband with the painted figure of a feline on his head. Characters similar to this one are represented in ceramics and textiles of that period, with participants taking part in ritual combats and in supernatural transformations where they appear flying or standing, with appendages emanating from their bodies. • Texto curatorial: El vínculo entra la vida y la muerte, y el lugar que ocuparon los ancestros como principales intermediarios entre ambos mundos, constituye sin duda una de los temas iconográficos más recurrentes en la iconografía Nasca. En este fragmento de un tambor ceremonial aparece modelada la cabeza de un ser humano, posiblemente la de un ancestro, a juzgar por los accesorios que lleva consigo, una máscara bucal con bigotes de felino y una diadema con la figura pintada de un felino, sobre su cabeza. Personajes similares a este aparecen representados en ceramios y en textiles de la época, siendo partícipes en combates rituales y en transformaciones sobrenaturales, en los que aparecen volando o de pie, con apéndices emanando de su cuerpo.
