This incense case is applied with ultramarine glaze except at the bottom and the fitting part of the lid and body case. It has an inscription "Banko" on the bottom, which suggests that it is a Banko ware. The kiln of Banko ware was opened in Kuwana, Ise Province in the mid-Edo period.
